Despite the written word's primacy in our classrooms, it is not the only way for us to share our thoughts and ideas publicly. We are continually assaulted with pictures – both static and moving – in this age of the internet. It is more important than ever for our pupils to gain the visual literacy skills they will need to navigate this image-rich environment.
